This Sunday, Pastor Adam closed out our study of Ephesians. During the past few months, we have focused on Paul’s letter to the people of Ephesus and how he wants them to see what God has done for them in Christ and how that should shape their lives.
The Disciples
As we continue our sermon series on the Book of John, we focus on Jesus’ disciples this week. In Chapter one in the Book of John, we read that John’s disciples leave him to go follow Jesus (verse 35-39). The disciples called Jesus, “rabbi,” which means teacher. Pastor Adam shared some insight about the role of “rabbi’s,” and the customs they followed at that time.
Scripture
This Sunday, Pastor Adam focused on the importance of scripture in our lives. In our busy life, scripture brings of closer to our Father, keeps us nearer to Him, and remains a part of our firm foundation in Him. As followers of Christ, it is up to us to have scripture a part of our lives, like Jesus did. God gave us these words not only to live by, but to read, memorize and meditate on.
Solitude
This Sunday, elder David Sanchez shared about the importance of solitude. David shared that “solitude is a healthy, personal discipline that allows you to engage in a meaningful time of reflection alone with God.” Solitude is not the same as loneliness and can be experienced in so many different ways.
Wisdom
La Familia
This week, Pastor Adam continues the sermon series on Joseph. For the past few weeks, as the story of Joseph has unraveled, we have seen Joseph favored by his Father, going around his jealous brothers in his beautiful coat of many colors. Joseph was a dreamer and later was able to interpret dreams. Joseph’s brothers hated him so much that they sold him into slavery. Later, Joseph was falsely imprisoned. During this time, it is very important to remember that God remained with him. As his story continued, Joseph interpreted Pharoah’s dreams and was put in charge of the whole land of Egypt.
Psalm 51
This Sunday, we continue the sermons series in the Book of Psalms. A few weeks ago, when we started in our ‘Psalms of Summer,’ Pastor Adam shared that, “The wide variety of Psalms is a reminder that wherever we find ourselves in our lives, we can turn to God, we are not alone - wherever our emotions take us - these reveal how little human emotion has changed over 3000 years— worship is always fitting.”
Psalm 103
This Sunday, we are starting a new series on the Book of Psalms. When I was asked about writing this week, my immediate reaction was “yes,” this book just excites me. If you don’t get excited with reading Psalms already, I pray that after this series, you find more reminders of his love and promises within the book of Psalms, that will also excite you.
